Today's Pics

From Sketch Club @ Double Midnight (3/12/14), a combination sketch and Photoshop: "The Floosh #1 - Sketch Club Variant Cover"

Graphic Design Flashback

Here's an unused patch design from the 2011 Massabesic District Pinewood Derby. I thought it was pretty clever myself, but the client is always right. Right?

Happy Birthday, Walt Disney!

Walter Elias "Walt" Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American business magnate, cartoonist, and filmmaker. As a prominent figure within the American animation industry and throughout the world, he is regarded as a cultural icon, known for his influence and contributions to entertainment during the 20th century.

From Sketch Club @ Double Midnight (11/11/13), in honor of the Valiant theme that week, here's my homage to Magnus & (my hero) Uncle Walt. Okay, it's not a sketch, but I really like the way it came out.

Beyond the Bend

A pic from WDW, while traveling the waterways of the Jungle Cruise. Peaceful and serene yet mysterious and concealing. What lies just beyond the bend in the river? Click to enlarge.

Philadelphia Zoo 11/22/14

Some surprisingly good shots from our visit to the zoo this past weekend. As always, click 'em to enlarge 'em.

The King of Disneyland

Happy Birthday, Mickey Mouse!

On today's date in 1928 Mickey Mouse made his official debut in “Steamboat Willie.”
The rest, as they say, is history.

Sketch Book

I don't draw as much with a pencil as I used to. Laziness, lack of a need and a over-dependent relationship with Photoshop and Illustrator have all contributed to my lethargy.

But, I do draw and usually fun stuff just for me and for Sketch Club @ Double Midnight. I can't make it to the store on Wednesday nights so I post to the Facebook Group instead.

The image above is my post for this week. It's me channeling the always awesome Roger Andrews by sketching a Roger Andrews Green Lantern drawing. I sure hope he doesn't mind!!!

Welcome to Behance

New toy in the toy box!

I downloaded Adobe Sketch for my iPad and signed up for a Behance account. Sure I can sketch with my favorite Ticonderoga No. 2 and any ol' sketchbook, but I've always wanted to try drawing with a tablet & stylus. Of course there are a million apps and stylus' and actual drawing tablets on the market, but as I've said before I like new, bright and shiny!

So now I'll finish watching the tutorial, shop for a stylus (Whoo, look at dem prices!) and start filling my NEW online portfolio!

AKL in Black & White

There are so many cool things to shoot pics of at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Here are a few I liked from our last trip that I converted to grayscale and ran through Lightroom. I'm not 100% satisfied with them, and I might go back later and try something different, but until then...

Last game of the season.

Maddy had her final soccer game of the fall season. It was a big win over White, Maddy scored 6 goals in their 7-1 win! I'm hoping she'll play in the spring as well, but it's up to her, we'll see...

I still design.

Although the past few years have seen me gravitate toward Film & TV work, and now on to still photography, I actually have a degree in Graphic Design (and I'm not afraid to use it).

Most artists have a perpetual scratch to itch, a need to create (something, anything) even if it's just for themselves. So, we do. And since I suffer from RBS (Restless Brain Syndrome), when I'm not doing any of the scores of other projects and Maddy-sitting duties I have, I still design.

Luckily I have the tools at my disposal to make things, which I do. And I'm lucky enough to have friends who ask me to make things for them!

Most recently I worked with the guys at Double Midnight Comics to produce stuff for their Granite State Comicon. I designed the badges, after-party tickets and an print ad for the program, you'll find them below. Just click on an image to see the larger version.

WDW October 2014 (part 4)

We're recently back from Walt Disney World, a quick getaway to enjoy the sunshine, food & wine and Mickey! Here are a few of my favorite photos from Day 4: Disney's Hollywood Studios & Jambo House.
